Stan Grenz suffered a
significant surge in his blood pressure, which resulted in a major
brain event, similar to a stroke or an aneurysm. He is in an ICU unit
at St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver, unconscious and on a ventilator,
and it is expected that he will go home to be with His Lord.
We have suffered a great loss. Stan was a progressive theologian, a brilliant mind, a wonderful Father, a passionate teacher, and a dedicated follower of Jesus. I took several of his courses at conferences, I have read some of his books, and have had the privilege to briefly discuss theology with him. He was a great thinker and an agent for change within the evangelical community. He helped me walk down some dark corridors of theology, only to surprise me with a great light of truth. I feel deeply for his wife and 2 children. He loved his family very much. Let our prayers go out to his family, his students, and the faith community.
Stan died today.

pretty sad. you wonder why all the good ones end up dying. is there a lesson in this? probably not, but from the little i know of him and in the times i sat and listened to him speak, he was a brilliant man. he changed lives in many ways.

Mark, you've really had a roller-coaster time of it. The high of Francis Bok and his great visit, and the sadness of the loss of Stan Grenz. The Lord gives and he takes away. Still blessed be the Name of the Lord. We love you, Mark. I'm praying for you, and even now discovering stuff about Stan Grenz and praying for his family, too.
